West Devon Swords attended OCRA’s Super Sporting Sunday at Okehampton College/Simmons Park this weekend as part of the Okehampton Sports and Fitness Festival for 2019.
Positioned right next to St. John’s ambulance (were they suggesting something?) on a bright, breezy and dry sports pitch, WDS entertained the public with some light sparring, some show-and-tell on the history of swords, and, of course, the youngsters had a go at foil fencing with the lightweight plastic kit.
We surprised the National Trust axe-throwing team with some pretty good marksmanship and kept the St. John’s team pleasantly idle.
We continue Swords in the Park on Thursdays through July and August.
