Swords in the Park for Summer
West Devon Swords returned to Simmons Park last night for our first Swords in the Park session.
We continue there weekly from 7.30pm on Thursdays through July and August, weather and daylight permitting, assembling in front of OCRA Pavilion. …
‘We’re gonna need a bigger church…’
The Okehampton class not only fills the available space, but needs more room to train and spar; just as well we’re moving to Swords in the Park from next week (18 July) for the Summer.
For the remainder of July and all of August, we meet outside OCRA’s Pavilion in the Park from 7.30pm until we lose daylight around 9pm (or get rained on). We will also be at Super Sporting Sunday on July 21st, same location.
Family fencing and archery for Summer
As part of OCRA’s Summer Holiday programme, West Devon Swords will be running another Family Fencing and Archery camps for parents and children. Parents of any age and children over 8 yrs can develop skills in these ancient sports on Fri 23 August, 2-4pm – £8 per adult, £6 per child.

Update: Medieval Sword School 9 and 23 Feb
We have quite a buzz around this coming Saturday’s session, 9th Feb. Really great to see, thanks all.
We didn’t set up a booking system this time, so if you can indicate on our Facebook page if you’re planning to attend that will give us an idea of numbers and we will flex the running order if it looks like we’re going to be short of kit.

Event: Medieval Sword School – 9 and 23 Feb, Okehampton
Introduction to historical sword-play (non-contact); including footwork, guards, cutting, thrusting and blocking. Actual combat techniques, not re-enacting or stage fighting.
