We just about made it before Lockdown 2.0: our contribution to the Half Term programme saw some arch-rivals for OCRA activities this week.The last event of this block of children’s activity camps was another of our archery sessions – shooting with sharps. A lot of the Okehampton juniors have shot using the safe plastic kit with us, but Friday we shot with the real thing.
Starting with the safety briefing and safe shooting, this lively group progressed through some team games, including one we made up on the spot. We rounded off the afternoon with a team tournament and a pairs tournament and it seems archery is in demand for the next February Half Term programme. The competitive element carried through in good spirits and everyone observed the Rules of the Range.
Our thanks to our teams ‘The Fornite Leg-Ends’ and ‘The Humans’ for a safe shoot, and bringing some can-do and some fun to a tricky technical sport made even trickier with some equipment issues and the added C-19 restrictions.
