Before the Summer term ended, we made it out to some of the primary schools in the area to run some fencing and archery sessions and in one school, attended their very own school-wide multi-sports day.
Our standard format, split-session of fencing and archery using the two sets of plastic kit, enabled a quick turnaround and two activities in the space of one for several primary year groups.
For the multi-sports day, we pitched in with other coaches running rounders, tennis, dance and art-makers sessions for a full rotation of the whole school.
Having a number of rural and semi-rural schools in our area, WDS provides a number of sessions for extra-curricular and after school clubs activities in sports that might otherwise not get coverage, all helping the non-team, non-running, jumping, throwing, catching youngsters to find alternative interests in competitive sport.
